Terra Delta

Terra Delta

Terra Delta is an engineering company working with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), to use SARS (synthetic aperture radar) data to help with wildfire mitigation. SARS can effectively image and identify the vegetation of an area. This combined with topography, weather, and drought conditions can be extremely useful for predicting and analyzing fires.

I was hired by Terra Delta to help design a dashboard to best display this information in an informative, modern, and easy-to-read way. When Terra Delta approached me, one of their main design goals was a data website that looked modern.

For these mock-ups, I did not have access to accurate SARS data so this is purely a representation of the interface and interaction.

The use of simple icons on the left serve to easily represent each category and keep the map fairly clear. The icons are these, top to bottom, fire layers, vegetation, drought data, weather data, and topography.

On the fire layer tab, the data will be updated to supply fires that were in the area.
